What We Do

Sisters of Mercy serve in a number of ways across the Northeast Community.  Inspired by our founder Catherine McAuley, we respond to a call to serve people in need and commit ourselves to follow Jesus Christ.Whether in official Mercy-sponsored ministries, in individual ministry, in partnership with non-Mercy organizations or through the ministry of prayer, sisters continue to respond to those most in need.We can be found in schools, parishes, hospitals, health care facilities, prisons, and in social service organizations where people are in need of food, shelter and support. We provide religious, English language and citizenship instruction and serve as staff at primary, secondary and higher education institutions. We actively advocate for social justice and systemic change on behalf of the poor and marginalized in our society.  Our retired members continue to take part in the works of Mercy and the Community through their life of prayer.
