A Community of Mercy

“As the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, New York Pennsylvania West, we are comprised of 270 sisters and 354 associates from Buffalo, N.Y.; Erie, Pa.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Rochester N.Y. The Philippines was part of the original New York, Pennsylvania, Pacific West Community when formed in 2008. The Sisters of Mercy in the Philippines began to relate directly to the Institute Leadership Team on Jan. 1, 2017.

Our ministries ‒ from education, health and housing to establishing Houses of Mercy in impoverished neighborhoods, offering assorted social service and related ministries, meeting spiritual needs and contributing to the life of Catholic parishes ‒ make a difference in the lives of others.

We join other Sisters and Mercy Associates in the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas in living the legacy started by our founder, Catherine McAuley, in 1831.”
