Companions in Mercy

What is a Companion in Mercy?

A Companion in Mercy is a woman or man who, in response to the Gospel, vows to live a life of prayer, community and service in the spirit of mercy and the Sisters of Mercy founder, Catherine McAuley.

A Companion in Mercy commits to live a life of prayer, community and service in his or her chosen profession.  This commitment is made in the form of a private vow to God and to other Companions.  To nourish a spirit of community, the Companions in Mercy meet twice each year, and communicate monthly. Each Companion shares responsibility for all Companion activities and is encouraged to participate in the local gatherings of the larger community of Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Associates and other friends of Mercy.

How do I find out more?

Contact us to find out more about Companions in Mercy. If you decide to explore life as a Companion in Mercy, you will be invited to submit an autobiography, and to share reflections relating to your life, goals, spiritual journey and knowledge of Mercy and Catherine McAuley. Following the exploration period you may move into discernment with a Companion mentor who will walk with you for a period of at least two years to further discern your call to Companions in Mercy.
